A remote valve tissue expander is a silicone elastomer inflatable expander with a remote injection port. The device is mainly used in cosmetic or reconstructive plastic surgery to expand an area of healthy, soft tissue, primarily skin, to gain new tissue that can be used to repair a specific area of the body. RVTE’s are temporary devices normally implanted under the skin or muscle.
